Statement on the Case of Mr. Jee Ick joo by the United Korean community Associations in the Philippines

We are a community of Korean living in the Philippines.  

On October 18th, 2016, Mr. Jee Ick joo, a Korean national, was abducted and brutally murdered by polices at their headquarters of Philippine National Police.

This incident has brought great shock and sorrow to us all, and we extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Jee's family.

We believe that the Philippine government and judiciary will deliver a fair and just verdict in this case. 

We are grateful for the efforts and hard work of the Philippine government and judiciary during the past seven years of trial proceedings. 

We hope that this incident will lead to stronger mutual understanding and cooperation between Korea and the Philippines.

The final sentence of the case is scheduled to be delivered on May 18th. 

The outcome of this case should be monitored by Mr. Ji's family, Korean in Philippines and all Korea and Philippine citizens. 

We will pay greater attention to the dignity and value of all human lives as a result of this incident.

In addition, we hope that this incident will enhance mutual understanding and cooperation between all Korean national and Philippine citizens.

We fervently hope that such incidents will no longer occur in the Philippines, where we live and love. 

Korean associations in the Philippines will strive to become a just and peaceful society with the Philippine citizens, while looking forward to a fair verdict under the law.
